I was Michael’s supervisor and line manager during his time with the Development Team at Mark Allen Group. He joined us in November 2018. He was furloughed (like many of us) from March 2020 until the furlough scheme came to an end in October. At that point several members of the team (myself included) were either made redundant or were found other roles within the Group. It is by no means any reflection on Mike or his abilities that he is now seeking another position. Mike is a determined and conscientious individual. He has worked hard at his own expense and in his own time to qualify as a developer. He has continued to study and improve his skillset while with us, and I know that he completed several online courses during lockdown. When dealing with support requests via our internal helpdesk Mike was unfailingly polite and patient with a good instinct for problem-solving.
When involved in building new sites he would carefully plan any task assigned to him, taking into account any scheduling requirements and asking for assistance from more experienced colleagues if necessary. He wasn’t afraid to put forward his own suggestions if he thought there might be a better way to accomplish a task either. Despite a difficult commute (our offices are miles from the nearest station), Mike was always punctual and reliable, and happy to put in extra hours with the rest of the team when there was a deadline to meet. Easy-going and cheerful, he was a popular member of the team and we were all sad to see him go. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mike to you.
Michael was a massive benefit to me in the stage that I was at. He showed genuine interest in my project from the start and an eagerness to try new things. He is good at problem solving which was important since I, without programming knowledge had very clear had bold expectations of his work without knowing the skill required.
He was also very accommodating when I asked him to work outside of his field of expertise to help me complete the backend data requirements ontop of customising and launching a fully functioning webstore, including liaising professionally with the platform company techs to install plug-ins and add code where they would have charged additional fees for doing the work. He's a good all rounder and proved an excellent intern. I think he would excel under another programmers instruction and I'm happy to discuss my experience in greater detail by phone or email.
Throughout the 3 months that Mr. Reeves was working with us, he was a self-starter and knew how to follow instructions well, while also being able to take initiative as needed. In addition to having good judgment and communication skills and a high degree of integrity, Mr. Reeves was also interested in further learning about game testing, which he demonstrated by asking in-depth questions whenever he had concerns or would require guidance to ensure he was doing the right thing.
I am certain that the period he worked for us was an excellent experience that contributed well to his learning and professional development. That being said, Mr. Michael Reeves would be an asset to your organisation, and he has my recommendation. Should you have further questions regarding his qualifications, please feel free to contact me.
